PRE-KINDERGARTEN Hearts

We HEART art! This is our collaborative art project that all artists in the Lower School are taking part in. Our squares and heart designs will come together as a large mural later this fall. From the sweetest Beginner designs to the amazing and intricate patterns of a 5th grade artist, Ranney School has heart!

Pre-Kindergartners entered the art room as confident and excited young artists. They were asked to create a heart using their favorite colors. For most of our artists, that meant every color of the rainbow and perhaps every shade in our buckets of 64 Crayola crayons!

A willingness to stretch the rules of the game is something we should all learn from our 4 year old artists. Creativity should know no boundaries!

After drawing the hearts, Pre-K artists had fun painting their squares with their choice of paint. We learned how to hold our paintbrushes and how to cover the squares completely with these beautiful colors.

In my class, students are given the chance to explore different materials and fun new techniques as they develop their signature style. Some young artists love to draw with a pencil, some like to paint on canvas or create images in a digital format, while others prefer working with clay and molding three-dimensional forms. In my classroom, we use a variety of materials allowing all artists to experiment and figure out which type of art they like the best. At Ranney School, we place a strong emphasis on originality and celebrate artistic differences, always nurturing and encouraging the imagination of every student.
